Daughter just bought a house and the bedroom is dark blue. They have a little girl so pastel pink it must be. :)
She just wrote and said they now have 3 coats of primer on trying to cover the blue. Is this the way to go about it? I'd think one coat primer then paint to cover.
Sorry, don't know what kind of primer or paint they are using, they live a few hundred miles away.
Thanks,
Baldwin

Generally 1 coat of primer is sufficent but pinks and yellows don't always cover well so it's a good idea to have a solid [or almost] white base to apply it to.
Quality coatings almost always give better results than their cheaper counterpart. Without knowing exactly what coatings [primer and finish] they are using it's hard to comment further. The local paint store will always have better coatings [advice too] that a big box paint dept.

If they still can't cover with three coats of primer, they are using the wrong primer. There are special "hiding" primers available which should be used here. The "standard" primers are built to be stain blockers and adhesion enhancers; their hiding capabilities suck.

Seems she exaggerated a bit, 2 coats of primer and one coat of paint. Came out great.
