I'm tiling a new shower pan. Is OK to us concrete backerboard on the front of shower curb? I'll deck mud the top and inside.

Where is your pan liner? Why do you want CBU in the front? Just mud the whole thing.

The liner is vinyl. I wrapped the curb in wire mesh. I was mudding all sides, but it wasn't sticking to well to the outside. I ended up mudding the side inside the shower and about an inch on top. For the front, I used CBU -- I only placed a few screws about an inch up from the floor.

Ok. I'm guessing you didn't add any lime to your mud when doing the curb and that's why it might not have been sticking.

Yep -- didn't add lime. Guess that's the secret!

You can use bagged masons mortar mix for this, no need to add anything. What did you use?:)
