We have put in new elements and two new resets. What could be causing this?

Wild guess, power surges? Are the new elements the same specs?

What about the thermostat? I have a sears WH that does the same thing and I've replaced the thermostat twice:wall:

What happens with mine is the water overheats and then trips the reset button - is that what your's is doing? Mine takes spells, it will work correctly for a month or so and other times it will kick the reset daily. It's been this way for several years. Sooner or later I hope to remodel the bath and bed rm next to it and also plan to relocate the WH at that time..... with a new unit:D

marksr, are you sure you elements arent the problem? is the water getting to hot? the elements can short to ground which will allow them to keep heating even if the t-stat shuts off.

No, I'm not sure:o

It's an intermittent problem and I plan to remodel and move and replace the WH then.
