I have a Weedeater brand Featherlite line trimmer that won't keep running. It is difficult to start, but when it does it will run for 15 seconds or so and then die. It won't restart for about 30minutesm then repeats the problem.

IiIt has a new spark plug.

What is base setting of adjustment screw?

Go to:

Manual with instructions on tune up.

heya,
FIrst, check if the fuel line has a filter at the end of it in the tank..change it if present.

Then make sure the spark plug is clean.

Make sure when you start it you are fully engaging the throttle to properly warm it up before you let it go down to idle.

when you start it get ready to turn up the idle screw fast before you let it die after 15 seconds. There is no harm in turning up the screw a turn or two before starting it so when you let the throttle go and it returns to idle, it is already higher..this will be an easier way to adjust it-especially if you are alone.

See what happens..make sure you are using new fuel too and worse case scenerio, clean and check the diaphram on the carb.

Cheers,
Ryan

I'm having the same trouble, except that I can start my line trimmer and it will idle OK, but when I depress the throttle, instead of excellerating, the motor starts to "choke out" which it finally does if I keep the throttle depressed. Should turn up (counter clockwise??) the adjusting screw? thanks very much

Carl, open(ccw) the low speed screw slightly. That will allow it to spool from idle through slow speed to high speed.

Hey Chandler, thanks. I appreciate the reply. But I'm not sure which is the low speed screw, and I haven't been able to google up a diagram or manual. I see one (silver) screw, and below it, a black plastic screw and also a white one. Any idea about which is which??
