I'm sorry for the vauge title!
I am having a contractor installing a 2-tier 16x16 porch. The 1st floor will be completely enclosed and dried-in, and the 2nd floor will be a large covered porch (the roof will tie into the home's roof as a reverse gable end.
All I want to know is what to use for the floor on the 2nd floor!!
My contractor wants to make a deck with deck boards and spaces in between so water can drain on a rubber roof below it. But my desire is to have a solid floor and maybe put indoor/outdoor carpet down too.
Now, why do I see all these large balconies and porches on 2nd floors WITHOUT decking? What is used? What can I request the contractor do to make the floor waterproof and something we can walk on and put outdoor furniture on?
I have to talk to him tomorrow; thanks for any responses!
