i just purchessed a air powered drill. the manaul says you pneumatic tool oil but then it says do not use detergent oil. are pneumatic and air tool oil the same thing. can i get away with using SAE-30 NON DETERGENT oil. drill is a central pneumatic reversible air drill item 94585

If it says use pneumatic tool oil that is what you should use. You can buy it where you buy air tools. SAE 30 is not made for all pneumatic tools, although some specify it as we learned in previous posts.

but what confuses me is it says use pneumatic tool oil but then it says don't use detergent oil. doesn't air tool oil contain detergents and solvents.

and other synthetic components (gaskets, seals) will deteriorate from the use of detergent oils. To prevent crud buildup in the tool, install an air filter.

While I've always tried to use 'tool' oil, if I can't find any - 3-1 oil will do ok.

so i will stick to the sae-30 non detergent i have. are pneumatic and air tool oil the same thing just different names?

You missed the point. SAE 30 oil is not pneumatic oil. It is oil for a lawn mower. Pneumatic oil is pneumatic oil. Yes, pneumatic means "air", and tools that operate on air are pneumatic.
