i have a seven year old electric water heater. the copper hot water outtake pipe has sprung a leak.. is there anyway to seal the leak or do I have to replace the pipe.... i can install a toilet and put on a water faucet.... is this a major issue .. btw i have shut off the heater braker but can't locate the shut off valve on the heater for the cold water...

the pipe may need to be removed in order to be able to repair it properly but if you have any soldering skills this should be fairly easy although it seems that the last person didnt do a very good job of it.
the main water to the house will have to be shut off and i recommend installing a valve at the heater as that is in most codesd i know of
