I just bought a 09 Hyundai accent 3 door. What is the best way to carry a couple kayaks on top? Thule rack will cost over $500! Can't beleive that, but its true! Do you think the foam blocks and straps will be good?

Thule isn't the only brand you can buy....high quality and well known, but as you found..pretty pricey. Check around, bet you could find a rooftop carrier that could be adapted to your needs for a lot less. You don't want foam in contact with the roof itself, unless you want to screw up the paint on a brand new car.

Yeah, the foam is tempting . Low price and easy to get, but I don't want a dented or scratched top on my new car. Have you seen these suction cup mounts? Big cups secure to the roof and I think a strap around the mid section. Of course ropes front and back.
