Hello, and thanks for taking a look at this post.
I just had my hardwoods refinished. For the most part they look great. But, there were two areas where the refinisher didn't vacuum well enough and there were several hairs in the finish (they weren't mine, I was out of town for the week he did this). No problem, right? He came back and buffed the areas with a circular buffer, reapplied the poly and left. The areas are nice and shiny, but there are swirly marks everywhere. He's coming back today to fix it, but before he gets here, can anyone really tell me if this can be fixed. I'd rather know now. I'm a little weary because it seems like if he'd had known better and not gotton the swirls there in the first place.

He had better be ready to apply some elbow grease. Hand sanding will get those marks out. You can tell that the marks won't show by getting it wet-if you can't see marks when it's wet, then the urethane hides the mark. Or he can screen the floor back to bare wood with the buffer and do two more coats of finish.
