I have a year and 3 month old electric water heater which is now leaking from the top where one of the plastic caps are, not where the cold and hot water inlets are. Its very odd. The plumber could not figure it out either. Its still under warranty obviously but how long does it take to process the warranty work so I can get a replacement? The plumber took the serial number and said he'll be in touch and what a pain it is if things are under warranty. Its been two days and I have heard nothing and its still leaking from the top, though its still working! Pro Max 80

not a favorite choice of most plumbers to install as this is an A.O. Smith water heater.

that being said. any water heater leaking from a point where nothing seems to be connected is not a good sign. it is most likely the threads of the anode rod leaking and would be a first for me if they are. the problem with warranty repair/replacement is if it is you have to pay the labor and it can take days if not weeks to get the parts.

i would suggest calling the support number that should be listed on the heater and talking to A.O. Smith your self

I'm getting a new one? Which is under warranty. They have them in town where the plumber got the first one. Why is Smith water heaters so unlikable?
