Hello everyone, I need some help with my mini rose bush. I have noticed that my little plant has attracted some unwanted pests. They are not gnats, but little flies with long white wings. They seem to be making themselves comfortable in the soil. I just reported this plant about 2 weeks ago and have noticed these little annoying pests and no matter how many times I squish the little boogers, there seems to be more the next day. My rose insect spray had no effect on them......help! Does anyone have any suggestions??:madhell:

Hi Flower girl,
You don't say if you are seeing any damage to the plants. I wonder if they could be rose midges. Do they look like this?

No...They don't look like that at all. They look more like a gnat, but not as fat and their wings are as long as their body. I haven't seen any damage to the rose yet. Thank you for your input.:)

You still don't say if you see any damage to the plant so at this point I suspect they might be fungal gnats. You can click on the picture here for a better view.

I usually find that potato slices work well for these pests.
