I have a Vista 40 control panel and one of the 2 keypads in my system was showing its age with commonly hit keys being difficult to get to 'take'. I ordered a 6160 keypad to replace the failing 6139 (which I understand is a discontinued model). I got the keypad wired, changed the address from the default 31 to 01 (the other keypad is address 02). The display reads, status lights show armed and ready as appropriate and the keys beep when they're pushed but the keypad doesn't seem to work - ie the system doesn't arm/disarm/bypass/etc from that keypad. The other keypad works fine. If I replace the new 6160 with the old 6139, the old keypad works ok. Is there anything else I need to do to get the 6160 to work? Is it possible that the 6160 is defective?
Thanks for any insights!

Hmmm, you may have gotten a dud. The 6160 is pretty much a "drop in" replacement for the 6139. Have you verified that the address on the one you are removing was 01?

When I swapped the original 6139 back in I did verify that the address was 01 and it successfully worked to set alarm on and off.

If you have the address set on the new one, and the physical wiring is connected correctly, and it still doesn't work, then the only option left is a bad keypad. Beyond setting the keypad address, there's no special voodoo for this.

Thanks for your help. I'll pursue returning the keypad and update the thread when I get a new one in place. I just needed to hear that I wasn't missing something obvious!
