I have a old rocking chair from my grandfather. It has been in a garage in the southwest for the last 32 years. Wood is dry and cracking. How can i get this back into somewhat good shape.

Welcome to the forums!

What do you want it to look like? stain? paint?

At minimum you will need to sand it down and fill the cracks before applying any type of finish. Using a paint stripper wouldn't be a bad idea. A lot depends on how much effort you want to put into and what you want it to look like when finished.
