We just got a Vista 20P system in our house with a 6270 keypad. I think we'd like to get a second keypad, probably just a simple 6150 for our bedroom. Can someone give an overview on what needs to be done for me to install this myself. Can I just add the wires with the existing keypad. Does this need to be in series with the existing keypad. Will any programming need to be done to add the second. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend against piggy backing off the back of one of those touch screen keypads. While that is often done with standard ademco keypads, those touchscreen units draw a lot more power and are a lot touchier about their data and power quality.

Just run a new 4 conductor from your desired keypad location back to the main control enclosure.

In all truth, Honeywell/Ademco actually does specify in the instructions for the 6270 that you are _supposed_ to have a conventional keypad available.

Sounds simple. I guess you're saying it is best to run a 4 wire line from my bedroom to the control panel and add it to where the existing keypad is setup, (4, 5, 6, and 7 I believe)

Will I need do any programming to get the keypad setup?

If you have no other conventional keypads, just set it to address 16 (see the instruction sheet that comes with the keypad), and you are good to go.
