Hi there, I have a quick question about adding another keypad. I have an Ademco Vista series system, and I want to add a 3rd keypad (Ademco 6160) to this system. Is it ok to simply cut the four wires going to one of the existing keypads, and then join both keypads to that single run of wires going to the panel? Since the keypads have a digital address associated with them, I am unsure whether this can be done. It would be much easier for me to do this, vs running the wires all the way to the panel for the new keypad, thats why I ask.
Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question :)

YES you can.
they all connect to the same pace in the panel-
you need to set the address at the keypad

With this brand and model you can, and it shouldn't be an issue.
It's still recommended that you home run when you can, because the voltage drop on small gauge wire used can add up quickly.

Thanks guys for the quick responses.
I was worried about the load on the wire as well, thats another reason why I wanted assurances I can do this. The existing wire run that I plan to wire the new keypad to is probably around 60 feet long. And the keypad already connected to it is not even an Ademco 6160, its the fixed-display keypad (I think 6150), so I am guessing that it uses even less current.

With an Ademco, the added 60 feet is piddly. You'll be fine.
I'm making the point because you _cannot_ pull this trick with a GE Networx panel. The system will display a constant "control overcurrent" trouble.
