I have a DSC 832 system. My wireless smoke just started to chirp. It is about 4-5 years old. It shows under the *2 a 5 & 6, but was not able to replace batteries right away as I had to go into the hospital for a week. Well I got home yesterday, and the trouble under 5 & 6 is gone. I replaced the batteries with fresh batteries and still get chirps. What am I doing wrong, and where did my trouble light go? Thanks

is this the wireless smoke with 8 "AA" batteries???

i dont think it would have been a 5 & 6, but maybe a 5 & 7

5 = zone fault, and can include trouble with fire zone

when the 5 is lit, you press 5 and then the zone thats at fault will be indicated. if its FIRE, the FIRE LED will be lit

7 = wireless DEVICE LOW BATTERY

when the 7 is lit, you press 7 again and that too will show which zone is with a LOW BATTERY

No, mine has 2 3V batteries (CR1230). Now today the only trouble light that is showing is 6 and if I hit the 6, I get 13 which is my smoke zone. It for sure is a 6 though.Beer 4U2

*2 - 6 is "zone tamper". Check to make sure you have the battery cover properly closed, and the smoke is locked into it's base.

Hey Ron,
There is no battery cover on this smoke (did not come with one), and I tried mounting it on the base correctly with no help. I even held the tamper switch in with my hand, but it did not help. Now the batteries are out, and I just get a 6 after pushing *2, even with no batteries in the smoke. But when the batteries go in I get this stupid chirp every 30 seconds or so.:wall:

Have you ever replaced these batteries before?

do you know the installers / programming code???

iam thinking if you have never done this before- perhaps you need to enter programming mode & exit to reset the trouble- ive had this happen on some other DSC problems

if you dont know it- try this- just like its typed here-

* 8 5010 903 wait a few seconds... then exit- # # #

after the 5010- the program LED will be flashing

all this is doing is showing what modules are installed- you dont need to really look at anything- its basically letting you in to prgramming, no changes are being made & exiting

No this is the first time I am replacing the batteries. I will try the programming tip and see how that works. I will keep you all posted. Thanks!

Okeee, I got the thing to stop beeping by holding the test button while inserting the batteries and then letting go and letting it do its thin, however I still have the 5&6 on the keypad trouble. I did the *8 5010 and 903, but the 5&6 are still on. Any other ideas without me having to reprogram the entire system again?:gmorning:

From the PC 5010 installer manual:

"Trouble [5] - Zone Fault (including Fire Zone) This trouble will be indicated if any zone on the system is in a
trouble condition, i.e. it could not provide an alarm to the panel if required to do so. When a trouble condition
occurs, the keypad(s) on the affected partition will start to beep.
Press [5], while in Trouble mode, to view which zones have a trouble condition. If 2-wire smoke detectors are
being used, a trouble on that zone will be indicated by the “Fire” LED.
Trouble [6] - Zone Tamper This trouble is only generated by zones configured for Double End-of-Line Resistor
Supervision. This trouble is generated when a tamper condition is present. When a tamper condition occurs, the
keypad(s) on the affected partition will start to beep.
Press [6], while in Trouble mode, to view which zones have a tamper condition."

Could you have possibly turned on the double EOL feature in programming location 13?

No, I don't think I did Ron. I never touched the keypad to see what was wrong and that was it. Most of the time I was messing with the smoke.
