How're you all,i have a Tappan electronic gas oven Stove with broil/bake and also top burners,my question is about how the bake stove works, correct me if I'm wrong!
Ok i press the Bake button then put in 400 degrees, then it ignites the ignited that turns red then opens the valve then starts the burner then it starts at about 100 degrees and goes up to the 400 degrees that were set, after it reaches the 400 it turns off the igniter and gas after a few minutes it turns on the igniter and burner again, and does this on same cycle over ands over again, My question is, is this a normal way this electronic stoves work,or the burner and igniter should be on all the time as long as the stove is on? thanks in advance.

It's operating the way it's supposed to.

The ignitor is in series with the gas valve. When the ignitor gets hot enough, the resistance decreases because of the heat, causing the current flow to increase which turns on the gas valve.

The ignitor needs to stay hot in order for the gas valve to stay open.

So what the thermostat is doing is turning the current to the ignitor/gas valve on and off to maintain the temperature set on the thermostat.
