Decorating and Design - What color/style furniture with panelling?

Hello all. I'm new and not good with decorating at all! My living room and hall, and one of the walls in the kitchen are all pannelled with a honey color panelling. I am looking to purchase furniture and am wondering what color I should put with it. I love warm colors, but am thinking with the panelling I might need something cool like green or blue to "brighten" the place.. give it more contrast. See, the rug is a neutral berber carpet, the drapes I have currently are a burgandy (can be replaced!) .. In my feeble attempts to make it more a home I am inquiring what color furniture would work best. I know I can do anything...

I am using plants for color (love the greenery!)

My sister says to put drywall up, but I'm not inclined as it's only a manufactured home and I hope to not be here for too long (though I've been here ten years)... it's in a very nice neighborhood out in the country and it's cheaper than renting!

any advice would be appreciated.

You can scan and post a common picture if you wish ;)

Is hard to imagine the colors you describe, so, IMO, I'd suggest that you work with neutral colors and some colored hints
I'd suggest Fielded Wainscoting, Alder Wood and why not, some Walnut shadows

ROFLMA why the hell didn't I think of that!

Here's my son's Jr. Prom (three years ago). Excuse the mess, change of seasons was sending fans in from the garage and new kitten had just come into the house. That couch is what I am replacing.. The wall hanging and cord from the surround sound are long since gone as well!

OK< so yesterday I stepped into an furniture/antique store and found 2 bassett camelback loveseats. They are blue with a green lily going throughout. The camelback style is what I've been looking for, and for lack of finding anything decent in color/price (unemployed at the moment) I went back to look a second time. The price tag was 495 each so I was only thinking of one. The salesman came up and said they were on sale for 325. These things look brand new. I thought about it some more and asked if they'd take 500 for them both, they said yes, that is essentially buy one get the other from their original price tag! They put a sold on it, but I have yet to pay for it. They reopen Wednesday...

What do you all think of that style/color for this wall?

I guess that the problem is the color diversity--> the panels + the carpet + the curtains + the new sofa.... will create several (color) focal points. Perhaps you should look for something matching the burgundy color of the curtains

Actually I was going to find a couch I like and replace the curtains! Wouldn't burgandy just make it look drab in here?

OK... My son insists I get the couches. (Good price and not hideous like most patterns)...

The windows are on opposite walls and do NOT line up with one another... I'm thinking of placing the new love seats in an L position with an end table in the corner. On the opposite wall I was thinking a nice plant stand. The fourth wall is a space away from the arrangement (but not too much) so I am thinking of placing my record player there (YES, the OLD furniture style!) and my wing back chair facing the one couch (again, a distance away from the record player) yet kidney cornered bye the second couch.

My son seems to think to place the love seats in front of the windows opposite one another. If I do that they would NOT line up, or if placed them directly across from one another one wouldn't line up with the window! What do you think?

Also, with a blue couch and green pattern, what color drapes should I buy?

Thank you for your help! I was thinking to MATCH the blue or green to the drapes! (SEE, I don't know what I'm doing! LOL).. OK< next question, should I put sheers between them like I have now? Or just the drapes and make them to tie back?

About the sheers: I always see the sheers' addition like a nice "dressing" detail. I mean that the sheers give an excellent finishing detail. In addition, you will be able to filter / set the sunlight according with the desired effects
