Getting ready to start installation of 3/4 Brazilian Cherry hardwood floor. For face nailing along the walls will a 16 gauge finish nailer be Ok or do I need to go buy a 15 gauge?

I'm no pro but I would think the 16 gauge would do fine. I installed oak in my foyer, office and master closet [all small rooms] using a 16 gauge to both toe nail and face nail. That's been over 10 yrs ago and there hasn't been any problems

I agree with Marksr. The 16 will be fine. You will find the first 3 runs of the flooring you will have to toenail it with the 16 gauge as the flooring nailer foot won't fit. Then the last 3 runs, maybe two will need to be face nailed.

Thanks guys for the information. I will go with the 16 gauge although I would really like to add a 15 gauge to my tool collection and my wife said go ahead and buy it. I can use the money for new trim and tranition pieces.

Now, wait a minute.....far be it for us to keep you from adding to your arsenal!!! Find a good deal and go for it. Especially since you have her blessings. Normally we have to buy new tools, destroy the box and packing by fire, rub dirt all over the tool and swear we've had the tool for years. Sometimes they believe you, sometimes we sleep in the shop.
