My neighbor gave me a lawn edger with a B&S 3.5 cause he was tired of working with it. I changed out the gas, put in a new plug, removed the air filter, removed the muffler and I cannot get the motor to stay running. It will fire every few pulls, then it dies. I put my hand over the carb and it fires and stays running 10 seconds, then dies. I'm not really mechanically inclined. What should I do next?

Sounds like you need to install a new carb kit, below is the IPL for your engine. Have a good one. Geo

I bought the kit and carb cleaner. Last night, I watched a youtube on how to clean out a carb. Today, I was able to clean the carb and get my edger going in a half an hour. It was fun.
