Hi,

I am having among others some problems wiring the truesteam to my Trane XR90 furnace. I have read all the Truesteam threads on this forum, the manuals etc, but do not find an answer. (I am a noob in furnaces installations etc).

The reason I am doing it myself is that the furnace companies I phoned to install this for me were charging me around 1800CAD for installation and delivery of the Humidifier (1140CAD) and the thermostat (600CAD). I found and bought the entire set for 450CAD at a local store, so 1800 CAD seemed to be a little bit on the excessive side...

Furnace: Trane XR90 (There is no model number on the furnace. So I have a call in to the builder to find out the model number)
Humidifier: HM509VPIAQ
Thermostat: TH9421C 1004

Currently my furnace and Honneywell Thermostat TH81104 1011 are set up as follows, which works fine:

Furnace Thermostat
R--------------R
W-------------W (O/B)
G--------------G

Some pictures. Click on the pictures for larger verions:
http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/furnace1.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/furnace1.jpg)http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/thermos1.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/thermos1.jpg)

When I try to hook up the EIM to the furnace and Thermostat. The furnace does not get any calls for heat/fan etc. I am using the diagram on page 16 (or 18 in the pdf (http://customer.honeywell.com/techlit/pdf/PackedLit/69-2036EFS.pdf)) manual.
Click on the picture for larger picture:
http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/manu1.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/manu1.jpg)

So I have hooked it up like so (DIP 4 is ON):
Humidifier.........EIM..............Furnace...............Thermostat
HUM-----------HUM1
HUM-----------HUM2
24V------------R
24V------------C
......................W1----------W
......................Y------------Y
......................G------------G
......................1-------------------------------1
......................2-------------------------------2
......................3-------------------------------3

All the connections except the 24V are made via Thermostat wire. The 24V connection uses low voltage wire. The outdoor temperature sensor is not yet hooked up (I would guess this would not make a difference for the operation of the humidifier and furnace)

With this set up the thermostat does not autodiscover the Humidifier, nor the Furnace. So I have set the Humidifier control 372 to manual (http://customer.honeywell.com/techlit/pdf/PackedLit/69-1816EFS.pdf), which now seems to control the Humidifier. I now have access to 374 and test 5 (http://customer.honeywell.com/techlit/pdf/PackedLit/69-1816EFS.pdf).

But the furnace still does not get a call form the EIM to start the fan or to start heating. I can hear the EIM click, but nothing happens. I tried to connect the Y to the R on the furnace as that is how it is now wired, but still nothing happens. I am running out of ideas, so any suggestions are more than welcom ;)

Thanks in advance!

The Model of the Furnace is:
Trane XR90 TUX1B080A9421AB (http://www.trane.com/Residential/Products/Furnaces/XR90-Furnaces)

Sorry for not getting to you right away.

You need to hook up the R's from the EIM to R on furnace. and same for C

No Worries! Thank you for your reply!
So what you are suggesting is to disconnect the R and the C from the 24V on the humidifier as it is wired now from the EIM and hook these up to the R and C on ther furnace? (Sorry for being such a noob and that you really have to spell it out letter for letter...)

PS: I was wondering how can I edit my first message in this topic? The Edit button is gone... (I see I made a little error in the opening post) The 24V connections from the humidifier connect to R and C on the EIM and not R and RC as I wrote in the opening post.
Thanks!

Just undo the 24v on Humidifier that is tied to R and C on the EIM.

TrueS-------EIM
HUM--------HUM1
HUM--------HUM2

EIM--------Furnace
C-----------C/B
R's*--------R

*= leave jumpers on all of the R's on EIM.

Thank you!
Hmmm, this doesn't seem to do anything. When I increase the temperature on the thermostat it keeps saying "wait" in the display below the temperature setting. After a very long wait it changes to heat on, but nothing happens...

I tried as you suggested:

TrueS...........EIM..........Furnace
HUM---------HUM1
HUM---------HUM2

..................C----------C
..................R----------R (All the jumpers in place on the EIM R's)

..................W1--------W
..................Y----------Y
..................G----------G

Two seperate wires are going from the furnace G and R somewhere. One wire goes to a "junction box" (see this picture (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/junctionbox.jpg)) where it connects to another wire which connects to three other wires. Two off these leave the furnace and one goes to a "Honeywell load box" (See this picture (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/loadbox.jpg)). The other wire leaves the furnace straight from the contol unit. I have no idea where these wires that leave the furnace are going to. Might this have something to do with it? (See the above picture (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/furnace1.jpg) of the furnace control board in the opening post)
I made a drawing (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/furnace2.jpg) to make it a little bit more clear.
I uploaded the service manual with some wiring diagrams of the furnace here (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/TUX1B-SF.pdf) for the once interested.

Ok...... I have no ideal what in the heck this "add on' thing is about or for....?????

Do you have Zone system.... EAC... Humidifier???

Where is it going to when it "leaves furnace"?

Do you have A/C?

Okay.

I do not have a zone system, nor do I have an Electric Air Conditioner, nor do I currently have another humidifier hook up to the furnace.

It seems to be that one wire from the one wire that turns into three wires goes to a box that is somehow attached to my range hood air outlet. When I turn the hood on and off, I can here the box click. It seems that air is going into this metal box via that hollow white tube. Here are some pics (Click on the pic for a larger version):
http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/rangehood1.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/rangehood1.jpg)http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/rangehood2.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/rangehood2.jpg)

So then I seem to have a yellow box that seems to be hooked up to the furnace. Here are some pics (Click on the pic for a larger version):
http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/yellowbox1.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/yellowbox1.jpg)http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/yellowbox2.thumb.jpg (http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/yellowbox2.jpg)

And then there is some sort of fan (I assume it is a fan) that is in a supply/exhaust line from the cold air return duct to the outside. I cannot visually inspect the entire 'fan unit' since it is in the ceiling. I am assuming this is hooked up to the furnace as well.

So this is how it seems to be wired:
http://www.sebastiaan.org/diys/furnace3.jpg

I think I am going to phone the people who installed the entire thing to come hook the humidifier and the thermostat up, because I have no clue anymore as how to do this myself, given all the 'strange' wiring... Unless someone here has any ideas/suggestions left over???

Thanks in advance.

You must have a very large hood (High CFM) system if you got this all wired up this way....

Of how we got this wired up, something should be running.

Do you have any LED flashing on the furnace board now? (Blower door switch pressed in )

Thank you again for your time and help! I really appreciate it

The hood is a simple over the range microwave hood combination.

The status led on the Integrated Furnace Control Board (IFC) just flashes slow, which mains: No call for heat. Even when I cranck the new thermostat up to its highest setting. It doesn't start flashing fast, which means call for heat.

When I hook the old thermostat up as in my opening post. It works fine. The led flashes fast when there is a call for heat, etc.

With the new t-stat, does the fan come on when you set the fan mode to "ON"?

Give me your advance/installer setting from the IAQ.
