For lack of better words, the system floated. Last night it was zones #2 and #13. At 8:30AM today, it was # 2 and #3. Then at four it was #11, #13. What is going on with this system? I can clear all the errors and set the alarm and then I get this!:madhell: The sensors are the mini/micro type and are new. All the doors and window frames are metal. Could this be the problem? If so, is there a proper way to insulate the sensor from the metal other than the Velcro that is used to mount them? Any input is appreciated?

What's the error message? Low battery? Supervisory? Tamper? Failure?

The message is "sensor xx is open". The sensors in question do not appear to have been moved and are less than 100 feet from the Simon panel.
I had considered an RF interference problem but am not getting the option 50 message. The batteries are reading 2.96 to 3.04 volts. I have adjusted the sensors several times to no avail and have come to the conclusion that the metal is somehow the culprit.
I am considering a repeater in the hope that it will produce a stronger signal. My knowledge of repeaters is limited so, I do not know if this will provide the solution or not. I would prefer a less expensive solution if one can be found.

Make sure the magnets are lined up correctly...On the micro sensors, there's not much room for error. If it were a range problem, you would be getting a "supervisory" error message.

I just installed a Simon 3 system and one of my new window sensors just started giving a "sensor failure" error. Any ides on what this could be. Do I need a new sensor?

Do a sensor test...how many status beeps are you getting (if any)?
