Help!Just bought a house in which every ceiling has been painted with a sand textured paint. Is this something that can be removed? I am trying to get the smooth ceiling look with NO texture. Thank you for any advice!

HI firstimer, You have a ceiling treatment that may be hard to deal with in that it is probably paint with a sand additive. Might try wetting a spot to see if it softens and may shave off in the hopes cheap paint was used. If not, your only option is to scrape or sand as well as you can and skim out.....Mike

Hello,
I just wanted to tell you that your asking for a world of hurt if your planning on sanding the cieling smooth. I've done it and it ain't pretty. The reason most houses have textured walls and cielings is because it is much easier than finishing smooth. If still wish to proceed, I'm betting you'll have to sand it all, wetting it isn't going to work. Good Luck!
