Furniture, Wood and Cabinetry Finishing - Liquid Sandpaper

Has anyone ever used this product? Or one like it? If so, what did you think of it and did it do what you wanted it to easily?

The purpose of this product is to soften existing coatings such as paint to aid in the adhesion of the next coating.

It would depend on your needs as to it's performance.

What do you need it to do?

I want to apply a darker stain to an existing cabinet so I am looking to simply remove the poly sealer.

Liquid sandpaper is not the product you need.It would not remove a finish.

The product you need is generally refered to as "refinisher".These products are designed to remove top coat finishes such as polyurethane but not strip down to the bare wood.

To apply a darker finish to something with poloyurethane you do not always have to remove the existing top coat.There are tinted polyurethanes that could be applied over what now is on the surface.You would want to clean well with mineral spirits, lightly scuff sand to aid in adhesion,remove any residue from that then apply as normal.Note that you have to take into account the darkening effect of the existing color when choosing a color to go over it.

And this process masks the grain....Will Bond is a similar product used when bonding is suspected to be an issue...
