I have a GE side-by-side fridge (Model GSH225JFRF) that no longer dispenses the ice. When you press the ice dispenser lever, the light comes on, the ice door opens, but no sound and no ice. When you switch it to water dispenser, however, the water comes out just fine. The ice maker is working properly and fills up the ice bucket as it should. What concerns me is the lack of noise (like a motor trying to turn, but failing). I have a theory or two on this, but I have no appliance expertise so I'd like to see what someone more knowledgeable than me has to say. Many thanks in advance for the help.

I am not much into icemakers but did see once where ice was frozen solid at the opening of dispancer. But Iam sure you already checked that

On some of these refrigerators the main board will go bad causing the compressor and both fans to cut off when you use the ice dispenser and no ice will dispense. Then after you release the lever the compressor and the fan will come back on. Try the dispenser and see if your refrigerator is doing what I described and if it is replace the main board located on the back of the refrigerator. HVACHELP - Yep, that was one of the first things I did was to pull the drawer out and check for blockages. Thanks for the help.
ApplianceMan - Yes, exactly. I noticed the fan turning off when I pressed the lever and it turned back on when I released it. I'm gonna use your link to see if I can fix this. Many thanks for the tip.
