I have a Goodman GLE30-S1 2.5 ton heat pump and need to get a new indoor unit in the next couple weeks. Should I get a Goodman indoor unit or go with a different brand. I received a quote on a Payne air handler, model PF4M030 with 30,000 BTU of cooling and a 10kW heater. Is this sufficient to heat a three level 2200 square foot home?

I do not work with heat pumps but in my opinion between payne and goodman I would choose goodman. Just my opinion, warranty I think about same but goodman beeing its own company and payne small sister of carrier. Again just personal opinion

Goodman also comes with a 10 year warranty whereas Payne comes with 5 years. Quality wise, is Goodman significantly better than Payne/Carrier?

Also, how many BTUs do I need for my home? It is a two story house with a finished basement (3 levels total). First floor is open to the second (vaulted ceilings). Lots of windows and three skylights. I used an online calculator and came up with about 80,000 BTUs. Is that sufficient for a 2000 square foot home?

Got an estimate on a Goodmand a/h today. This company wanted about $450 more, which didn't surprise me (FH Fur). They recommended matching the new indoor unit with the outdoor unit (also Goodman) for maximum compatibility and efficiency. They also informed me that electric air handlers don't run at different speeds when heating and cooling. That's news to me. Also, since my outdoor unit requires R-22 refrigerant, I have to get an R-22 indoor unit. He went on to say that once the outdoor unit goes bad, I won't be able to get another R-22 because they are being phased out, and I will have to replace the coil on the indoor unit to work with R-410A. Is all of this true? Is Goodman a fairly good brand? I don't plan on being in this home for more than 10 years or so.
