Hello all, I removed our 1 year old softener from our last house but I haven't gotten around to installing it in the new one. It has been sitting inside for 2 years now is it still usable?

Some of the seal may have dried up. The resin has to stay moist. If it dries out, you may need to replace it. Is it big enought for the new house? People don't realize unit are matched for the water conditions as well as the number of family members. What size and kind of softener is it? Do you know the hardness? Is it city or well water? Lots of questions need to be answered before a good advice can be given. Let us know. We will be more than happy to help.

Yes this new house is actually slightly smaller then the last house but the same amount of people in it.....
I think it was 35000 grains (does that sound right?) and the water here is much less hard then where we were at..
I appreciate the response. what Im interested in knowing is if the unit can sit for 2 years and still be usable. The unit has had water in it the whole time (i moved it the other day and water came out so im assuming its still topped up.)
Once I start it up should I just run it through a cleaning cycle right away?
Thanks again..

Hook it up and run it through a cycle. You will know within a few days if it is not going to work.
