Hey Guys,

I been reading this fourm for about two weeks and I need some help. I seen alot of good users on here so im sure i am in the right place.

I have a Vista 15P system and I am trying to program it. I also have a 6150 keypad. I know I need a 6160 keypad for EASY programming but im sure it can been done with a 6150. (I think I got screwed)

This is what I got so far.

Zone 1 = Motion (Hall)
Zone 2 = Instant (storage)
Zone 3 = Delay (Entry Door)
Zone 4 = Instant (Door we dont use)

So far I have done the following.

Powerd up the system, Hold 1& 3
Press 9 then 1 (restore to defaults)

Press 1 then 16 to set address (CA)
* to continue

Press 2 then 00 (RA)
* to continue

Press 4 then 10 (House address)
* to continue

Press 6 then 0 (No RF trans 0 = off )
* to continue

Press 7 then 0 (no Transmitter mod)
* to continue

Press 0 then 0 (Not sure what High-Security mode is)
* to exit

This is all fine, The problem is setting my code to arm the system and setting up the sensors.

I press 4112+800 then I see 20
cool, im

Once I press *63 im lost

Any help?

Thanks

what are you trying to do

To do any of the menu mode programming, which especially includes zone programming, you need to have a 6160 keypad or the equivalent. _I_ know the process pretty well, but wouldn't try to do more than a single zone or so with a fixed alpha keypad.

But neather the less. It can be done...

Yes, you have to write out the steps in the *56 instructions and follow them _exactly_. If you get out of sync, you have no prompts to get yourself back on track or even figure out where you screwed up.

im not understanding it, thats why I posted what I have.

In that case, you shouldn't be trying to blind program. You have to understand the underlying structure of the system to pull it off.

That said:

The following thread has an example of the steps to "blind" delete a zone. That should give you an idea of the syntax.

Don't say I didn't warn you...

They are all hardwire zones. If i had the keystroks I could do it (I do tech support on home automation as a job)

so following directions is not a problem.

When I press *56 i am confused on the manual and how its read.

This is all it says.
All the 3+1 or 4+1 1-9 is comfusing.

These are Menu Mode commands, not data fields, for Zone Programming,
Function Key Programming, and Expert Mode Zone Programming respectively.
See page 2 and respective sections later in this document.
TO PROGRAM SYSTEM STATUS, & RESTORE REPORT CODES (∗59 thru
∗68, *70 thru ∗76, and ∗89):
For 3+1 or 4+1 Standard Format: Enter a code in the first box: 1–9, #+10 for
0, #+11 for B, #+12 for C, #+13 for D, #+14 for E, #+15 for F.
A 0 (not #+10) in the first box will disable a report. A 0 (not #+10) in the
second box will result in automatic advance to the next field.
For Expanded or 4+2 Format: Enter codes in both boxes (1st and 2nd digits)
for 1–9, 0, or B–F, as described above.
A 0 (not #+10) in the second box will eliminate the expanded message for
that report. A 0 (not #+10) in both boxes will disable the report.
For Ademco Contact ID® Reporting: Enter any digit (other than 0) in the first
box, to enable zone to report (entries in the second boxes are ignored).
A 0 (not #+10) in the first box disables the report.

3+1 and 4+2, etc. are the names of monitoring receiver formats. (3 digit account + 1 digit alarm code for 3+1, for example). These have nothing to do with zone programming, other than report codes for the system. Since you are probably wanting to try to do the pseudo-pager call to your cell phone, you would be using contact ID which is _any_ non zero value in the report code field (it's an enabling code, and holds no special meaning).
