We are looking to purchase and get installed a counter top that is called Black Matrix. We have seen the honed and the polished versions, we are leaning towards the polished. Has anybody purchased this granite? While we were at the granite warehouse, a fabricator said that this granite is soft and is not great for counter top installation. The salesman said it was hard and it was OK. I have called numerous granite suppliers and fabricators and I can not get a concise answer. Is this stone hard enough for kitchen installation?
any help appreciated Thanks

Hi cmorheiny and welcome to DIY
I saw this granite for night tables and occasional tables, but never for countertops
Anyway, I'd go with the opinion of a manufacturer. I'd say that he is more knowledgeable than a salesman....

Short and sweet, the fabricator works with all different kinds of granite on a regular basis. He will know the stones charactaristics inside out. He will always be a much better source of information than your salesman.:)
Best bet for granite countertops is to go to the fabricators facility and see and pick the actual slabs, and talk to the fabricator.:)

had to order cream Bordeaux instead a much harder surface. the thought of the maintenance and the possibility of easy damage convinced us to change.
