I have two questions.

First off.. is there any way to create a fast key to isolate a group of zones at once with the DSC 1832. They are not either in or out.. it's just that I want to alarm my house while the gardener is working outside. It's like 8 zones that I have to isolate every time and that is usually a problem for my elderly parents who often make mistakes in blocking zones. I originally had them as the internal and external, but usually when i am home I still have all zones active. so when I put the internal alarm it overrides other zones I could want to block.

Second, I am working with bravo 6 motion sensors and the people from the monitoring company have been bothering me saying it is a semi-external sensor.. how much of this is true? I have it covered with a small awning.. but I still get false alarms.

Yes, there's a feature called "bypass group". On my copy of the User manual it's on page 7.

So Bravo 6 is in case I have animals inside? I have it covered by a large awning. By the way thanks Ron!

1st you post saying its covered with a SMALL awning, now you state a LARGE awning. ???

Is the Bravo 6 inside the house (where it should be) or outside?? You mention the gardner outside? so i assume the bravos are also outside since you wanna by-pass those zones??

These are not "semi-external sensors" (whatever that means). These are pet immune up to about a 60# dog or multiable cats- you must install as stated in the directions, and the jumper must be removed for the device to function with animals.

There are companies that make outdoor motion detectors to protect gardens, or car lots... etc. these are made to ignore flying objects (birds) as well. The Bravo series is NOT one of these.

Due to me being thrown off this group with another name, i can not tell you who makes such devices or model numbers- if you would like, you can MSG me and i will give more information.

Actually, Locktec, there is nothing wrong with mentioning brand names, as long as there is no way to interpret it as advertising.

That said:

For an outdoor motion you probably want something along of the products offered by Optex:

Optex Inc Security Products - Outdoor Products (http://www.optexamerica.com/productlist.aspx?l1=2&l2=9)

or RISCO/Rokonet

RISCO Group - Creating Security Solutions. With Care. | Products (http://www.riscogroup.com/Products.aspx?subcatid=108&id=12)

There's a couple of others offered by GE, Bosch, and a couple of other companies. Those two were just the first couple of hits from a quick websearch for "outdoor PIR Motion"

Sorry about the awning contradiction! It's a little roof of about.. 30" by 15" over the sensor. What are the risks of having these outside. I have used them in a different system but they work fine. no false alarms yet.. over 7 months. they do have better cover though.

You know your microclimate. Here in N. FL, a location like that will get wet on a regular basis because it regularly rains nearly sideways.
