I have a Sears Kenmore Ultra Soft 800 water softener. I am finding sale in my drinking water after the softener regenerates. Anyone know what caused this?

Unit is approximately 4 years old and has had low usage but has been moved several times.

There are a number of reasons for this.
1. The drain line may be partly blocked. Check to make sure there are no kinks in the line. Check to drain flow control for debri.
2.The unit is allowing too much water into the brine tank. The water level should be 1" from the bottom. Disconnect the brine line from the unit and see if there is a drip.
3. The resin could be bad. Chlorine will degrade the resin and it will retain salt.
