This will seem like a dumb question, but my dear husband and I have been debating this for days, and we need another opinion.

What we know about window treatments could be put on the head of a pin!

DH and I have just bought a new home. The front door has a large window with a sheer curtain covering it. Then there is a small foyer, and another door that opens into the house. "the foyer door". It also has a large window.

I would like to hang a similar sheer curtain over that window, in order to impede seeing directly into the house from the front door. The argument I am having with DH is that he believes the curtain should be on the foyer side of the window, while is appears obvious to me that the curtain should hang on the inside.

It should be noted that the foyer door opens toward the person coming into the house, not away. In other words, when you open the foyer door, you pull it towards you, not away from you. To DH, this means the the curtain should be on the outer side.

Any opinion will be appreciated.

Just an opinion:)
A curtain would be much more attractive when you can see it, not having to view it through a pane of glass.

Just my vote..I think it should be on the interior of the home. If you want to look out, you should be able to move it.

Putting it on the foyer side would make me feel like I was looking at the outside of the door.

Hi. Yes, they should be on the inside. Would look strange on the outside.
Are you just covering the transom? Consider that instead of full length so that it doesn't interfere with the door opening or hang it on a swing rod, so you can swing it out of the way.
Another thing to consider: sheers offer some privacy during the day, but not 100%, and absolutely none at night, so anyone can still see into the house.
