I just tore out wall board that looked like 4x4 tiles.. now i would like to put up wood & paper the upper part. This room is very small, (floor space 4 1/2 x 4 1/2)The old board was about 58" high. I really only have 2 walls approx 5', the tub, door and closet use up the wall space on the other 2 walls. Would it make the room appear larger by going up 4' instead of going up the 58"?? I am looking for some advice as this is my first project by myself. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi lynners and welcome to DIY,

I am not sure if I understand your question
The bathroom size is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 and you have a tub and a closet, etc.....?
can you post a sketch and or a couple of pictures?

So you want to put wainscot or beadboard on the lower part of the wall? IMO, the lower you keep the wainscot (say 42" or less), the larger it will make the room feel. But if your paper above has a design, I think it will cancel out that effect. IMO a smooth wall (lack of texture) and simple design is what will make the room seem more spacious.
