I was cleaning my Maytag gas range and removed the burner knobs from the front of the range. I then sprayed the front panel with cleaner and all of the strikers began striking at once. I put the knobs back on and tried to turn them off, but they wouldn't. They also wouldn't ignite with the knob control so that I had to ignite them with a match to burn off the gas that was coming out.
The only way to get the strikers to stop was to unplug the stove. Now that it is unplugged, no more gas is coming out, but still the strikers won't stop striking if I plug it back in.
HELP!!!

Not sure how much cleaner was sprayed, but I'd suspect you got the contacts for the ignition sparkers wet. You might be able to speed up drying by blowing low temp air from a blowdryer around where the controls are.
I'd doubt its anything more serious...but I'm no appliance Pro. Theres quite a bit of electronics in the newer ones.

I hope it is nothing more than that. I will wait a couple hours and see. I did try my blow dryer briefly, but that didn't do much. Thanks for your response! :)
