I am finishing a section of my basement with greenboard and I am at the point where I am ready to tape and compound. What is the deal with all the different compounds out there and which one should I be using? I have found All Purpose, Light Weight, High Performance, Low Shrinkage and about five others. Right about now i'm pretty confused.

The taping should be done with the all purpose mud [green lid] It has more adhesive properties than the others. It can be used for all coats of mud but the light weight sands a little easier.
