I have woodwork around and old fireplace with a convection heatilator system. The woodwork currently has two intake grates in the woodwork on at the bottom of both sides and an outlet grate directly over the mantle. It works well but I do not need it. If I simply cover the intake and outake vents with new woodwork, will this be problematic?

I have the same question, hope someone can answer. I have a brick wall around my fireplace & would like to remodel with a mantel. The vents are above & below to the side of the existing fireplace and are in the way if I want to put on a formal mantrl. In what manner should I cover or remove them? Thanks for any reply!
