I need to bring a curtain out 5 inches from the window to bypass the shades that are on the window. Does anyone know where i can get such long brackets or how i can make my own? Jean

Hi and welcome to the forum! You don't say what kind of rod you're using, but have you checked Home Depot, Lowes or your local hardware store? They may have extensions. JCPenney's sells some (don't know if they'll fit your bracket or not). You can make your own by using a block of wood, slightly larger than your bracket, paint it to match the wall, and attach it to the wall with L brackets.

your existing bracket is most likely made in 2 parts.. the L bracket and the clip itself that screws to the L bracket. If you cant easily find what your looking for you can replace the L bracket with a normal one you would find at the hardware store and screw the clip to it.
This may not be as attractive as the factory bracket and you may want to paint it white, but depending on the width of the rod and drape, you may not need a center bracket (the most obvious all said and done) and can get away with hiding your brackets behind the drape as its stacked (bunched up) in the open position.
did any of that make sense?
