then #s 1-6 all flash and nothing more seems to be possible (in terms of me doing anything other than unplugging th system and seeing the above, over and over).
Was handing this system as an install ("you've done phone systems - you should be able to do this"). Don't see any 'installer codes' or 'master codes' on any of the hardware or docs I have.
Am spinning. Any help at all (clues, ANYTHING!) and I would be in your debt.

1-6 are likely on because you don't have resistors on the hardwire zones. You're going to want to get your hands on an install manual. Default installer code is 9713. Default master is 1234.

You guys rock. I'm supposedly going to face it again on Thursday:wall: , but this info is brilliant. Thanks for your help!

I guess I'm just not an alarm installer.:o Oh wait, I already knew that.
I got 3.3 resistors on the unused posts, which made the other zones stop flashing after the startup. The other two inputs (a motion detector and a door contact) still flash. Tried with 3.3res across them. Tried reversing the leads for each input. Have them on #5 and #6 with the shared COM.
One thing I _did_ note: When I'm in the loading area (where the motion detector and keypad are) and I move (as if to trigger the MD) the #5 stops flashing. Thats something, I guess. I get no such love from opening the door WRT the #6 light.
They asked me to do this because I used to do telecom and data wiring, but phone systems are a _lot_ more straightforward IMO. I suspect that in this case I should have a meter and a lot more electrical experience than telecom. Oh well!:wall:
And It's not like I can call someone to bail me out: I'm on top of a mountain in a telescope. House calls ain't happening.;)

Looking at the manual and trying to figure out the programming. So far cannot find a definition (here or in the manual, or the web for that matter) as to what 'module' and 'location' are defined as, whether they are represented by the flashing lights I have and can be affected through programming, etc.
MrRonFL has some great FAQs that I've found, but alas I'm not seeing a Rosetta Stone (or at least one that makes sense to me).
I starting to think its the altitude.:o

Look at the wiring diagram. These are normally closed circuits, the resistor goes in _series_ with the alarm contact/motion relay.
"Module" refers to any of the major system components. The main board is a module, the keypads are each modules, the wireless receiver board is a module, etc.
"Location" is the programming location number (refer to the programming work sheets in the back of the installer manual).

And the series issue was the main culprit (though I had sussed it before logging back in here) so THANK YOU!:thumbup:Beer 4U2
Now the only issue is the master code and making it no longer be possible to enter '1234' and get in scot-free.
I think I saw something about that elsewhere on this forum so I'll go hunting, but in the meantime THANK YOU!
(I also gotta toss out mad props to JD, the poor soul who was assigned to watch me explode today and was a huge help in the thinking-thing-out dept)
