Hi all,

I'm new here - hope this is an OK question to ask. I scanned through the FAQ and didn't see anything on this specific topic. I'm setting up a shop for my wife's new business, and there's an existing ADT Safewatch Pro 3000 system (at least that's what it says on the keypad door.) The system has been unpowered for months, and has been disconnected from all of its sensors. I got a new 12V sealed lead-acid battery at Radio Shack, made sure it was charged up, and plugged it in, but the keypad display doesn't show any life. I made sure that the little shorty fuse on the main panel board right next to where the battery's wires connect is good.

I am an electrical engineer, so I would have the skills to do some troubleshooting if I had some info to go on. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help!

Bryan

Meter termial 1 & 2 to make sure the panel is getting power. Meter the keypad wires to ensure the keypad wire hasn't been cut. If the keypad is connected, is it addressed correctly? To address, remove power, reapply, then hold 1+3. keypad should read "16". If anything other than 16 shows, then enter 16 * *. Often in new tenant space wires get cut from contractors. Good luck

Just thought I'd post what I figured out. The system will not wake up on just the power of the backup battery. However when the 16.5V AC power is applied, it will wake up. Then, if the AC power is removed it still stays running, using the backup battery.

Thanks!
