recently my oil heated 26 gallon hot water tank has been slow to heat water- 2 hot showers then cold. today, we have no hot water at all. I checked the hot water copper pipe attached to the tank, and it is hot to the touch, so I would think that there is hot water available, i just can get none to my kitchen, or bathrooms. anything i should check prior to making the call to a plumber? There are no leaks, and we have had no issues until now. Thanks for any insight.

is there a steel nipple between the tank and the copper pipe? if so then that is most likely the problem
