Hello,

Been reading and using this forum since starting my alarm project and its been a great help. I have a problem that has me stuck.

My alarm is showing error "General System Supervisory", which the installation guide says is one of the devices on the keybus connecting and disconnecting.

I went into 902, waited 1 minute then went into 903, it had found one of my keypads on slot 8 and the PC5108 zone expander card, but no reference to the second keypad.

The alarm detects and doors and windows open that are connected directly to its zones (1-6), but any contacts on the zone expander (9-16) do not seem to register on the alarm. For example, my front door is on zone 3 and the alarm knows every time the door is open, my patio is on zone expander and when that is opened it has no affect on the alarm. Buzzed out the cables and the contacts do work.

On the zone expander i have jumpers 2 & 3 ON, Tried different jumper settings and the system gave an error straight away, whereas it normally stays on for a while before giving the error.

Also put a cable between TAM and BLK so as to bypass the tamper switch.

Changes made using the DLS software, such as time and chime do not get pushed up to the PC1616 even though DLS 2002 says it has. It did however push up the zone names.

I initially played around with my keypad downstairs in terms of enrolling it, but gave up after a while. I have not touched the keypad upstairs at all and when i set the time downstairs it does carry over to this one.

My questions are:

1) I am not using the last zone on the expander, should i have some kind of resister connected to it or have it configured as off somewhere?

2) If the alarm has 1-6, why does the PC5108 zone expander start at 9, should it not start at 7?

3) In the zone naming i have labeled zones 7 & 8 since i was assuming the zone expander starts at 7, was this a mistake, should they be blank?

4) Should the 2nd keypad register in 903 function, or do both just work as slot 8?

5) Do i need to "enroll" the keypads the original one was there when the alarm powered up?

6) Could any of the units be faulty?

Any help would be much appreciated as this thing has been confused and frustrated.

Thanks,

Mike

have you enrolled any of the keypads?
enroll the 1st keypad by the following: *8 _ _ _ _ (installers code) 0 0 0 0 (4 zero's) 1 1 # # # {this keypad will be slot 1}

then GO TO the 2nd keypad and do the following: *8 _ _ _ _ (installers code) 0 0 0 0 (4 zero's) 1 2 # # # {this keypad will be slot 2}

Do another 902 & 903. the slot 8 keypad should be gone, and then it should show a 1 & 2 keypad.

The zone/s 9 & up missing- did you enable those zones ? assign to a partition?
section 203, LED's ON = zones SO- LED #1 = zone 9, LED #2 = zone 10, LED #3 = 11.... ETC.

Section 016 - is LED #8 ON? thats keypad tamper. If it is ON, did you install the clearish/white rubber stem thing in the keypad base plate? if not- that could be part of the problem.
It goes in after mounting plate to wall, in the tube like hole, the end of it has the black conductive pad to make a connection on the keypad- little aray of gold contacts.

If you didnt or lost them, go to the section 016, and disable keypad tampers, LED #8 off

{LED on or icon numerial lit}

Thanks for the quick reply.

Did as you said with the keypads and the supervisory error has now gone, thanks!!

I am not having so much luck with the zones and partitions. The unit still fails to see the zones on the expander. Not only does it not chime, but the "ready to arm" light stays on even with the patio door open. If i open any of the contacts that are on its own slots (1-6) then the arm light goes off until that contcat is closed.

I checked the zones and they all look ok, this is what i get:

Option 201 i get: 1, _, _, _, _, _, _, _
Option 202 i get: 123456
Option 203 i get: 1234567_

I assume option 201 means that only partition one is active.

I assume option 202 means sensors 1 to 6 are active. 6 is the highest number since its a PC1616 only has 6 zones on the main board.

I assume option 203 refers to zones 9,10,11,12,13,14,16,_. I disabled the last one as i'm not using. Should that have a resistor on it?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Forgot to mention, i went into the attributes of all the zones except motion & front door and confirmend the attirbutes are as follows:

1,2,3,4,_,_,_

Which if i read correct means:

1 = Alarm audible
2 = Steady bell output
3 = Chime
4 = Zone bypass

For front door i added a delay.

Also,

After installing the PC5108, grounding the tamper, then ensuring its on partition (i put it on partition 1 zones 9-16, section 203 in the manual), is there anything else i need to do to it so it shows its zones to the main panel?

The PC5108 shows up on 903 as a supervised module.

Thanks,

Mike

What zone types did you set for these zones? The system defaults them to 00 (unused).

You don't configure zone type in the 1xx attribute locations. Normally the only change you make there is to turn on the wireless attribute for a wireless zone.

You should be setting your zone types in location 001 (for the first 16 zones).
