View Full Version : Concord 4 Self Reset?

I recently installed the Concord 4 system based on the advice I received here (for which I thank you).

Question: In the event the alarm is tripped due to an intrusion sensor (e.g., door or window) being activated, can anyone tell me if the system will reset itself taking into account the tripped sensor? If so, what code settings should I be looking at?

My situation is this. I am not connected to a monitoring service. My family vacations for a week at a time. If I arm the alarm system and it trips due to an intrusion of course I want it to go off (presumably for a few minutes and then resetting). Assuming the intruder is scared away (hopefully), but leaves a door or window open, will the alarm continue to trigger so as to become a nuisance to the neighbors for a week or will the alarm reset itself and consider the originally tripped sensor disabled?

I am a complete newb so I apologize in advance if this is a lame question (I did try searching but everything I found related to master resetting, etc.).

Thanks

By default, alarm will sound for 4 minutes if nobody disarms. You can adjust this in the Timers menu (1-30 minutes). Alarms will continue to be processed even if you do not disarm.

GEGuy, Thank you very much for your response. Can you clarify what you mean by "alarms will continue to be processed even if you do not disarm"? Does this mean that a door left open by an intruder will cause the alarm to retrigger again and again after resetting? Or does it mean that the alarm will reset and not trigger again until a new sensor is tripped (effectively meaning the originally tripped sensor has been taken out of the equation upon reset)?

Thank you again.

Well, if the door is left open, no alarms will sound unless someone shuts it and then opens it again.

In the manual, this setting is called the Swinger Limit and can be changed. (On different forums, that term would certainly have a much different meaning.):D The default is 1, meaning that this number is the maximum number of times a sensor or zone can cause an alarm before the system ignores it (until it is reset, that is, such as closing an open window). To change, look in the Reporting menu. In the manual, it's page 77.

This only applies to REPORTING the alarm, not the actual alarm sounding on site!!
