We have what is considered "Mexican" floor tile in the kitchen/breakfast area of our almost 20 year old, newly purchased home. It's about 11X11 inches, a dark rust color and has about a 1" grout line between the tiles. Some of the tiles look as if something heavy or sharp has been run across them and taken off the top layer, or they've delaminated somehow.

It looks like someone had used spar poly to seal them so we've used a little bit of the same on some of the marks to seal them.

Is there a better way to seal/repair this marks?

Thanks.
