I recently had new metal exterior doors installed. They are presently gray in color. I want to paint them but I have several questions. Do they need to be primed first? If so what type primer should I use. After primer/preparation, should I use an oil base or latex paint?

You would want to follow the directions that came with the door. All I have seen say prime with quality latex primer and latex topcoat.I do know an oil topcoat can be used.
