Hello, I have a built in gas oven whirlpool model sb160peeb9. The bottom ignitor for baking stopped working and I was shocked at replacement costs. The local appliance repair guy did not have any crossreferenc for it and said it would cost about 220 installed (he said most were around 80$). I called whirlpool and they want 166 plus 20 dollars shipping for the part and at various other sites the cheapest I found was 140$. These were all for origninal manufactures parts. (part number 8190012) I did find a website called stoveparts.net and they sale "subco range ignitors". On their crossreference page tehy have my model listed and their replacement is only 20.78$. Does anyone know anything about this company? That is a drastic difference in price from the origninal, should I be concerned about purchasing this instead (I would obviously love to be able to save the money). SHould I go ahead and pay full price for the original part? Also, how hard is it to install? Can I do it myself? I doubt the repairman would want to come out and install a part that I bought elsewhere.

The person who came out was a local shop and he did not stock that specific part and when he called it was going to be 210 dollars. The parts he did stock were around 70-80 but he would not instal them as they did not match the part number. I went ahead and ordered the part of supco and it came today. Is there anything I need to be careful with?

i removed one from a older (1984) oven with minimal effort. Took the oven bottom plate off, one screw holding the igniter, one screw holding the metal cover for the connections to the valve. There was a non-conductive strip with connection lugs for connecting the igniter to the valve, it broke trying to remove the igniter wire.
I'm curious to find out about that low-ball price. I am trying to find a replacement myself but can only read part of the model number.
good luck.
