I am getting ready to lay tile in my bathroom. How long after you thinset and screw down the Hardy board do you wait to start setting the tile? Can you tape and thinset the joints right before you set the tile or do you need to let it dry first? And one more question, when you are cutting tile with a wet saw do you cut it face up or face down?

You can start right away. No need to wait.

The best way is to tape the joints as you set the tile. You'll avoid speed bumps left by the cured thinset that way.

when you are cutting tile with a wet saw do you cut it face up or face down?

Up.

Thanks for the info. Whst type of thinset do I need to use for the Hardy board and what type to set the tile? Is one brand better than the other. I am going to buy my tile from Lowes. What type grout do you use? We are using 16x16 tiles on the floor and around the spa tub and 12x12 on the wall.

If you are shopping at Lowes, you can get some Mapei Ultraflex thinset. It's about $15-16 for 50lb bag.

You can use that for under and over the backer board.

I would also back butter the 16x16 tiles before installing.

You will need a medium bed mortar for the 16x16 floor tile.:)
