we need a small piece of furniture similar to an end table to conceal the audio & visual electronic components for our HD TV. I would rather not pay furniture store prices then cut out the back of a $300 end table so the components don't overheat (or start a fire!)
Does anyone know of any company/ site where I could buy unfinished/unassembled furniture to suit our needs?

Have you tried Ikea? That's the only place that comes to mind. Check their website to see if there's one near you. They sell some things online, but not everything.

Sometimes you can ask local hardware or building supply stores where you can find independant suppliers then you can specify what you are looking for and maybe even get unique items too.

thanks for your suggestions; Ikea doesn't have any sort of end table type furniture, and I already asked at our local Lowe's & Home Depot and nobody there had any real helpful tips.
I'll just scour the web whenever I can get time.
