we just got a new HD satellite dish & receiver & one of the things recommended is to always have the receiver plugged into a phone line. There's only one wall plate on the first floor and it's wired to our phone which is in the kitchen. I'm trying to save on paying for a service call for something that seems to be a diy job; I can run it from the receiver simple enough but where would I connect the other end of this telephone wire to dedicate just for this satellite receiver?

the only way to dedicate it is to have a seprate line from the phone company

you can take off from the kitchen phone or any other jack or go directly to the NI

whichever is most convient

allset; routing it all was easy & just connected same colors to same colors.
