I just bought a true steam humidifier, 12 gallon with the Vision Pro IAQ thermostat. Have a couple of questions on the wiring.
I live in Denver, so it is pretty dry here. Is it better to wire for independent fan control or the dependent on HVAC power option? I was thinking to just wire for dependent on HVAC and if it wasnt delivering enough humidity, I would switch to the other.
Second question, they included a temperature probe to be mounted outside, but it isnt mentioned in the directions for the humidifier. The probe directions say to wire it directly to the thermostat, but the thermostat they delivered does not have any connections to allow it. Should I just not hook up the probe or how does it get wired into the system?
Here is my interpretation of the wiring diagram for dependent on HVAC power. Not sure about the eim to furnace board wiring...
Connect the thermostat to EIM - D1 to 1, R2 to 2, C3 to 3
Connect TrueSteam to EIM - Hum to H1, Hum to M2, C to a Air flow switch to C, R to R
EIM to Furnace Board - O/B to Heat1 Relay, Aux to heat2 relay, aux2 to heat3 relay, y to cool1 relay, y2 to cool2 relay, G to fan relay

Dependent is better, and it can force the fan on of humidity is needed.
The probe directions say to wire it directly to the thermostat, but the thermostat they delivered does not have any connections to allow it. Should I just not hook up the probe or how does it get wired into the system?
The sensor gets wired to the OUT1 OUT2 on the EIM.
Connect the thermostat to EIM - D1 to 1, R2 to 2, C3 to 3
Correct.
Connect TrueSteam to EIM - Hum to H1, Hum to M2,
Correct.
C to a Air flow switch to C, R to R
Air switch is not needed if you didn't get one. What did you use for one if you did get one?
EIM to Furnace Board - O/B to Heat1 Relay, Aux to heat2 relay, aux2 to heat3 relay, y to cool1 relay, y2 to cool2 relay, G to fan relay
I take it you have a two stage heat pump? (Make and model of both indoor and outdoor unit)

I've been out of town, so havent been able to address this until now.
Goodman make for both
Furnace model #GMS91155DXA
Outside unit model # CKL60-1L
thanks for the help so far.

Ok, Thanks for the info.
You got the basic single stage systems.
This how it should be wired up.
EIM----Furnace----HP
O/B----------------O
Aux1-----W1------W2
R's--------R--------R
C----------C--------C
Y1---------Y---------Y
G----------G
Installer set up menu. (Anything with "E" displayed, change it to a number value.)
110-0 (unless this is zoned?)
120 to 160 you can figure it out.
172-2
174-1
176-1
180-0
190-0
200-1

390-0 (unless you are gone for a long time in the summer?)
400- Do you have air exchanger (HRV)?
500- and on, you can figure it out.. If you have questions, let me know.

didnt quite understand your wiring diagram. I ended up doing the following. I decided to go with the humidifier only running when the furnace runs. I can change it later if there isnt enough humidity.
wired thermostat to eim 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 no problem
humidifier to eim hum-hum1, hum-hum2 no problem
external temp probe to eim, connect to out1, out2 on eim no problem
eim to furnace, this is still where I have questions or clarifications. this is what I did, I dont think I have a heat pump, just a conventional furnace, but I'm not an expert, first time even trying to mess with hvac stuff
I have six wires running from eim to furnace board. the furnace board has six screws, one is not labeled, it is the first one in the row. I will go in order from left to right on the furnace board. there are two wires running to the outdoor compressor for the Air Conditioner
EIM Furnace board AC
(O/B W)-------no label
Y----------------Y----------Y
(Aux W2)--------W
(R's 3 jumpered)--R
G----------G
C----------C----------------C
and last question on thermostat setup. you say to set 172 to 2 I have it set to 0 because I think it is a conventional heat, or am I wrong and have to set it to 2?

My bad. I must of had your post mixed up with someone else. You are correct, you don't have HP.
Only changes is the, EMI's W1 to furnace's W.

172 should be 1.

if the emi w1 goes to furnace w, does that mean I will have two wires running to the furnace w (w1 & w2) or I dont need a wire running from w2 to anything ie. only have five wires req'd

I tried switching eim W1 to furnace w, disconnected eim w2
I tried connecting eim w1 and w2 to furnace w
I tried connecting eim w1 to furnace w and eim w2 to the first furnace (no label) screw
in all cases I get a call service signal on humidifier
furnace is still working, but not humidifier

You just need W1 to W on the furnace.
For the humidifier, you only have HUM to HUM, HUM to HUM?

Jay,
I emailed you a wiring diagram. I dont have a place to store the pdf so I cant attach it here. Hope that is ok.

It looks good.
Going to give that a try and see if you won't get the fault code?

It still isnt working correctly. When I turn the humidifier on, after hitting reset, it appears to work correctly, the green light is on saying it is good to go. When it is time to humidify though, they red call service light comes on. When I hit reset, it goes back to looking like it is fine. Any ideas?

Is it flashing any error code?
Did you make sure the water is turned on?

no error codes except for the call service light.
water is turned on.
Power is on, wired like diagram shown. dip switches set all off except for 4. stat codes are set as called for in manual.

I'd call the dealer that you got the unit from and see if they can send someone out to repair it, or replace it under warranty.

Wiring was correct. Checked the water line and there was a clog between the water filter and check valve. It wasnt getting enough water. In two hours of running humidity has increased from 19% to 29%..hope I dont have the problem of not being able to sustain 35%

5% per hour is pretty good, my average was 4% per hour and I can maintain 40%. The percentage drops as you get closer to your set point of course though.
