I have a 1997 MXZ 583 that needs a new crank seal on the clutch side does any one know if i can replace this seal without taking the motor apart

No, it all has to come apart. Pull the engine and get it up on a bench.
Replace both sides and check your bearings for wear. Do it all at once so you won't have to keep going back into it.
